I am in love with watercolor. It fluidity and flexibility offer for me ways to explore emotion in ways that sometimes moving image can't for me. I love to move back and forth between painting and making films. There is a lot of joy in it for me. I also find that painting pushes me further with my film projects. When I need to take a break from screenwriting, filming, and editing, I go straight to painting. This process creates a creative flow for me.
As I have been developing my latest film project, Moonland, I have found painting has increased my concentration. It has helped me transition between writing sessions. When I am feeling a block, I find myself at the paper with a paint brush in hand. I am no longer looking out a window for inspiration; I am finding it through my connection to color and fused layers. I have been creating quite a set of work, which some are listed on Etsy for sale. I have an opportunity to exhibit them with Altered Esthetics and I would love to see you at the opening reception next week! More info here. I set a New Year's resolution to take my career as a painter seriously in 2017. So, I am super excited to announce that I opened an Etsy store to sell my paintings! It feels good to have accomplished this step.
My watercolor paintings explore fusion, fluidity, and complex abstraction. This work involves a two-step process, which first begins with pouring or dripping watercolor paint on paper and allowing the paint to dry. I then create a unique pattern by experimenting with bleeding and color. I have a number of paintings listed on Etsy. I will regularly post new listings on Sundays. Please don't hesitate to contact me about my work or setting up a commission project! Shop now with a 10% coupon until 3/19/17! Just use the code: newbie!
